Purchase Security
If items bought with your eligible card are stolen or damaged within 90 days, this benefit can repair, replace, or reimburse up to $10,000 per item.
  • Covers items bought with your Visa card for theft or damage within 90 days of purchase.
  • Maximum reimbursement is up to $10,000 per item and $50,000 per cardholder.
  • Doesn’t cover items like animals, perishable goods, antiques, or vehicles.
  • You need to file a claim within 60 days of the incident, and submit required documents (e.g., receipts, police reports).
  • Insurance may cover after your primary insurance is exhausted
The Emergency Medical / Dental Benefit is an optional card benefit that offers supplemental coverage to eligible cardholders should an accident occur during a trip paid for with a covered Visa card. The benefit provides up to $2,500 per covered person for emergency medical and dental treatment for accidental injuries or acute medical conditions that occur during a trip. Expenses for covered hotel convalescence are also included to a maximum daily benefit of $75 per day for a maximum of five consecutive days.
 

How to file an Emergency Medical/Dental claim

1. Within ninety (90) days of receiving medical care while on an eligible Covered Trip notify the Benefits Administrator at 800 434 1280, or call collect outside the U.S. at 804 673 6499. The Benefits Administrator will answer Your questions and send You a claim form.

2. Return the claim form and the requested documentation below within one-hundred and eighty (180) days of the date of the event to the address below:

Please submit the following documents:

• The completed signed claim form

• A copy of Your monthly billing statement or the travel itinerary (showing the last four [4] digits of the Account number) confirming the Common Carrier ticket was charged to Your covered Account and/or rewards program associated with Your covered Account

• If more than one method of payment was used, please provide documentation as to additional currency, voucher, points or any other payment method utilized

• A statement from Your insurance carrier (and/or Your employer, or Your employer’s insurance carrier) or other reimbursement showing any amounts they may have paid towards the costs claimed Or, if You have no other applicable insurance or reimbursement, please provide a statement to that effect

• A copy of any other valid and collectible insurance or reimbursement available to You if applicable

• Receipts for the eligible medical/dental expenses

• Any other documentation deemed necessary by the Benefit Administrator to substantiate the claim


Benefits are provided for covered cardholders, their spouses and dependent children under 18 years of age (up to 25 if a full-time student). There is a $50 deductible per person. The Emergency Medical / Dental Benefit is secondary to existing medical and dental insurance.

Built-in protection when you rent

Rent with your eligible  XCEL Federal Credit Union account and enjoy built-in Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver coverage, helping you save money at the counter.  This benefit reimburses you for damage due to collision or theft, up to the actual cash value of most rental vehicles. Coverage applies to the cardholder and any authorized drivers listed on the rental agreement.

Travel & Emergency Assistance

Travel and Emergency Assistance Services  represents yet another valuable customer incentive for carrying your financial institution's card. It provides a high level of quality service to cardholders, allowing you to position your card product as a "frequent traveler's" card—a product designed for cardholders who appreciate the added care and attention. Travel and Emergency Assistance Services covers eligible Visa cardholders (including their spouses and dependent children under 22 years of age who are traveling with them). See terms below.*

  • Pre-Trip Assistance: Provides information about health precautions, weather reports, currency exchange rates, visas and immunizations.
  • Medical Referral Assistance: Provides medical referral, monitoring and follow-up.
  • Emergency Transportation Assistance: Arranges for transportation under medical supervision.
  • Emergency Message Service: Relays emergency messages for travelers and is available 24 hours a day.
  • Prescription Assistance and Valuable Document Delivery Arrangements: Accommodates unexpected prescription needs or transports critical documents, which may have been left at home or elsewhere.
  • Legal Referral Assistance: Arranges contact with English-speaking attorneys, U.S. embassies and consulates, bail-bond assistance, cash advances and follow-up assistance.
  • Emergency Ticket Replacement: Arranges for the replacement and delivery of new tickets and assists with ticket-reimbursement procedures.
  • Lost Luggage Locator Service: Arranges cash advances required due to lost luggage and assistance with obtaining applicable insurance payments when the carrier is unable to locate lost items.
  • Emergency Translation Service: Provides telephone assistance in all major languages and helps find local interpreters, if available.
Travel and Emergency Assistance Services is available 24/7 by calling a dedicated toll-free number in the U.S., or through a collect telephone number when traveling abroad. 
Baggage Delay Reimbursement
This service helps when your baggages are delayed or misdirected for more than 4 hours, you can be reimbursed for essential items you may need to purchase while you wait for your bag to arrive. The maximum benefit is $100 per day up to a maximum of 3 days.
